Joy WalkerLarge Watercolors from 1974by Raul Veron |
Joy Walker © 2001 |
"The Joy Walker show displays ten watercolors of bright energetic lines painted in a seemingly slap-dash fashion. The viewer gets a sense of urgency of the artist to convey an emotion as the lines seem hastily applied. It is in this aspect that the works resemble those of Pollock's action pieces. However, Walker substitutes Pollock's chaos for lines painted in a rough direction. Thus, the artist gains control over the artwork by directing the viewer's focus while retaining the element of raw emotion." |
