Color again takes me back on the road wth Mr. Matisse to Nice and the Cote D'Azur. My hotel, in the old part of Nice, was along the Baie des Anges and shared Mr. Matisse's veiw from his various residences along the quai des Etats-Unis.

The color of the water, the pastel hues of the buildings all filtered through the Mediterranean light -- no wonder Mr. Matisse stayed so long and I often dream of returning.

But there is much to see and Van Gogh beckons from Arles, St. Remy, and the Luberons. One day sitting on the edge of Les Alpilles looking into the valley below I am sure I am in the exact spot where Van Gogh did one of his drawings and I know he used Montmajour Abbey as a motif for several paintings.

Again on a recent visit to St. Remy, Arles, and Montmajour Abbey, Van Gogh's voice still echoed through the area even stronger then my first visit.
