Jacqueline Rada Artist Recent Paintings - Atmospheric Softness |

A Lonely Cloud
|
This locates Sferra Rada at the end of the 20th century and also at the end of the abstract mileiu that was first so joyfully inspired by forms and color free from the overbearing conventions of description. Sferra Rada also admires Agnes Martin; however, her paintings are not analogues of nature, but places that maintain the structure of their identity as her memory filters and reduces them to a simplified image. The subject of Sferra Rada's medium size paintings are predominantly shorelines, islets and isolated roads captured with tonal harmonies of pale blues, muted ochres and warm greys. Combining distance with atmospheric softness, the artist evokes a metaphysical stillness.
