Etna Clouds

 

Mt. Etna is the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps. On a clear day frequent marshmallow cumulous clouds can be seen over the east coast of Sicily, a soft white fluff overhead.

A curiosity to the why and how of the sky, it can go from angry to insidiously calm.

Colors in the sky may reach greatest intensity after the sun has set at the surface, so volcanic twilights are knows as afterglows.
